Summer Stars has begun for 2022 and your child can sign up at their local library.
Summer Stars is an entirely free programme run by public libraries all over the country each summer. It will run from 13th June – 31st August 2022. Children can sign up at at their nearest public library, to take part and collect their reading card where they track all the books they read over the summer.
This is a non-competitive programme with the emphasis being on taking part. Each child who reads even one book/e-book from the library during the summer can collect a certificate at the end of the summer for participating. The range of other prizes includes pencils, pencil cases, bags, bookmarks and medals. There will also be activities and other events held in the library along the way.
The aim of the challenge is to incentivise children to keep reading during school holidays when we see reading habits traditionally drop, bridging the gap between the school academic years.
