Review by: Chantelle, LCA Intern for Library HQ
Synopsis: Soulmate. Kindred spirit. True love. One And Only. We’ve all heard it before. Everyone is looking for someone who is most suited to them. The person who keeps them warm and snug at night. The person who will have your back through thick-and-thin, the worst and the best. But what if, theoretically speaking, You could determine your ideal mate based on your DNA? What if your soulmate is just one spit swab away?
Dr. River Peña is putting his knowledge and science to the test.
Review: Soulmates are more like an idyllic notion than a real phenomenon. So when the founder of the program Dr. River Peña, matches with unsuspecting mother Jess Davis, it throws his whole world off balance. Partially because she’d sent in her test more in a spur of the moment, a momentary lapse in judgement. And also because Jess Davis used to know Dr. River Peña – and they did not get along. He was obnoxious and outright rude. And she had no time in her carefully constructed world to deal with this obvious mess-up they call a, “Diamond match”.
But of course, life just sometimes wants to laugh in your face while dancing around you, for all intents and purposes like a smug and gloating seven year old. A series of events lead Jess straight back to the Dr. who’d been on her radar for quite a while. She needs cash to stay afloat and he needs results for his business. They have three months to figure out if they are well and truly soulmates. If their hearts beat in sync. If he touches her, does it spark like sizzling electricity? They’ll soon find out.
Soulmates is an amusing romance with all the bells and whistles needed to captivate you. Your attention will be devoted wholeheartedly to whether or not soulmates are a real possibility, or yet another marketing gimmick.
